Tim Todd is the director of public information at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and also serves as a writer and historian at the Bank. In 2010 he wrote "Integrity, Fairness and Resolve: Lessons from Bill Taylor and the Last Financial Crisis," a brief biography of the Federal Reserve's long-time head of banking supervision that examines the financial turmoil the nation endured in the 1980s. In 2009, he published "The Balance of Power: The Political Fight for an Independent Central Bank, 1790-Present," summarizing the Fed's political history. In 2008, he authored the first compiled history about the Kansas City Fed titled "Confidence Restored: The History of the Tenth District’s Federal Reserve Bank." He was also an associate producer and writer on the PBS documentary "10J: The History of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City." The documentary, produced by Kansas City public television station KCPT, was recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association in 2009 as the best special program in Class I Television. Todd also frequently writes articles for the Bank's quarterly magazine TEN, of which he is the founding editor, and speaks to outside organizations about Fed history. Before joining the Bank in 2002, Tim was a journalist for more than 10 years, much of that time as a wire service reporter covering equities and commodity markets. His wire service stories appeared in numerous publications in the U.S. and internationally.
