The Omaha Branch is the oldest of the three Tenth District branch offices, officially opening for business on September 4, 1917. The Bank was initially located in the old First national Bank building at 1219 Farnam before moving to 17th and Dodge Streets in 1925. In February 1986, the Omaha Branched moved into its existing building at 2201 Farnam Street.
Today, staff at the Omaha Branch perform the following roles:
- Regional Affairs: Economists in Regional Affairs analyze economic conditions in the region and also focus on agricultural and rural research. They publish the District’s quarterly Survey of Agricultural Credit Conditions and The Main Street Economist, which focuses on a variety of regional research in a format targeted to business and banking leaders. Economists speak frequently to local, regional and national business and media audiences.
- Public Affairs: Staff work with the public to share information and research by local economists. In addition, they work to promote economic and financial literacy in the state of Nebraska through teacher education and outreach to the public.
- Community Affairs: Staff support the Federal Reserve System's economic growth objectives by promoting community development and fair and impartial access to credit. They focus on issues affecting economic prospects in low-and moderate-income communities and bring together community stakeholders to explore prospective solutions.
- Supervision and Risk Management: Examiners inspect the safety and soundness of state member banks and bank holding companies in Nebraska. In addition, staff for Credit and Risk Management work to lend money to financial institutions in the District for seasonal lending needs.
- Support Functions: Several departments provide support for Omaha Branch staff and the facility. Facilities Management staff and engineers maintain the facility for staff as well as the Branch’s tenant. Information Technology Support Services and Human Resources employees also support local initiatives and staff as well as District projects.
