The Omaha Branch is the oldest of the three Tenth
District branch offices, employing a staff of approximately 65 employees.
The Omaha Branch officially opened its doors to serve financial institutions
in Nebraska (and a portion of Western Iowa) on September 4, 1917. The Bank
was initially located in the old First National Bank building at 1219 Farnam,
before moving in 1925 to 17th and Dodge. In February 1986, construction was
complete on our existing building, which allows for additional vault space
as well as a secure and efficient docking area for receiving shipments of
cash.
Tours of the Omaha Branch to be discontinued after May 30, 2008.
Free guided tours of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and its
branch offices are available to student groups (high school and above),
business and civic groups, and the general public. Take advantage of this
unique opportunity to experience our nation's central bank. On your tour you will learn about the Federal Reserve's three main
functions, as well as find out about the processing of currency and
other payments. Information about what to expect at each location and tour
guidelines is available. Please note that due to changing responsibilities
of the Omaha Branch, tours will no longer be available after May 30, 2008.
